Man held in counter-terror raid

A man has been arrested in Dundee under the Terrorism Act after potentially explosive materials were seized at a house in England.

The 31-year-old man, from Goole in East Yorkshire, was arrested at about 0130 GMT.

Another 31-year-old man was arrested in Goole on Wednesday following the search of a house.

The man held in Dundee will be taken to West Yorkshire for questioning by Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) officers.

On Friday a court approved a warrant to hold the man detained on Wednesday for seven days.

He was being held pending further inquiries by officers from the CTU and the results of forensic tests, police said.

CTU officers also said routine searches would be carried out at a residential address in Dundee, but said there was no immediate cause for concern.

The raid in the early hours of the morning took place at a property on the city's Pitkerro Road.

BBC Scotland understands that the investigations are not related to any form of Islamic extremism.
