Samoan prop Justin Va'a returns to the Glasgow Warriors line-up for Friday's Magners League clash against Ulster. Johnnie Beattie reclaims the number eight jersey, with Kelly Brown moving to blindside flanker.
David Humphreys earns his first Ulster start of the season at fly-half after coming on as a second-half replacement for Paddy Wallace against Leinster.
Justin Harrison replaces Carlo del Fava in the second row, while scrum-half Kieran Campbell returns on the bench.
Interview: Ulster's Andrew Trimble "Like every other position in the team there is a lot of competition for places and Paddy Wallace has started the last two games. David did really well coming off the bench against Leinster and deserves his start," said Ulster coach Mark McCall.
Meanwhile, flanker Neil McMillan will have a scan to determine the extent of a knee injury picked up playing for club side Ballymena at the weekend.
Ulster would go above Glasgow in the table if they claim a bonus point win.
McCall's team remain in the basement spot but they secured a major confidence boost after fighting back to draw with Leinster at Ravenhill last Friday.
"We identified defence as a problem against the Scarlets and against Leinster it was clear that progress had been made and although they had a lot of the ball we had godo structure and shape to our game.
"When we play our game as we did in the last thirty minutes against Leinster we show that we are a godo team with some great players."
Glasgow are currently seventh in the table and have not been beaten at Firhill this season.
Head coach Sean Lineen told the club website: "This is the last of our run of home games against Irish opposition and it's going to be the hardest.
"There is no way Ulster are a bottom of the league side. They have strong running backs and a powerful pack.
"But the best is still to come from Glasgow and I've been very impressed with the way the boys have prepared for this one."
The Warriors drew with a nearly full-strength Munster side last weekend.
The Ulstermen have won on their last two visits to Glasgow, including a 27-18 victory on their only previous appearance at Firhill in April 2006.
